Makeup Your Mind: Meg Spisak

Makeup Your Mind: Meg Spisak

Meg is a Visual Communication Design Student at Kent State with a minor in Photo-Illustration. When she isn’t doing work for IdeaBase, freelance design jobs, or in school, she spends her time working as a Professional Makeup Artist.

As a makeup artist it gives her another outlook on creativity. She works on various wedding parties, photoshoots and film sets. In the past Meg has worked with the Kent State Fashion School helping them with hair and makeup for fashion shows and photoshoots as well as Kent State Independent Films as one of their hair and makeup artists. Her favorite form of makeup is special effects. She finds it interesting to create something that looks realistic just from makeup.

In the past Meg has worked with the Kent State Fashion School helping them with hair and makeup for fashion shows and photoshoots. She is used to working in a hectic environment between getting models ready in a hurry or changing an actors look for a new scene. One thing that sets her apart as a makeup artist is having a background in design. She takes inspiration that she gets from graphic design into the work she does with editorial makeup.

Recently, Meg has gotten more into the world of film. Between doing makeup on film sets and helping production come to life with graphic design, she has learned a lot about how a film set works. On set, Meg will be seen with her makeup kit or laptop by her side working on designs for the film.

Other than doing makeup and design, Meg also loves to read about famous and local artists. Her favorite artist of all time is Andy Warhol. He is her biggest inspiration for anything that she creates. She has a passion for finding underground artists who have a unique style that sets them apart. As for the future, Meg likes to keep her options open. Between her love for design, makeup, and film, she would love to keep working towards all of those fields of creativity. She sees herself moving out west to see what opportunities she can experience.
