Just Add Iced Coffee: Betsy Garwood

Betsy Garwood is a Visual Communication Design major working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in User Experience Design. She is planning to graduate in the spring of 2019. She is a young designer who aspires to have a design job in a fashion/beauty related field. She is most interested in typography and editorial design. Betsy described her design style to us as minimalistic.

Aside from working at IdeaBase, she helps out on campus as well. Betsy is a Student Success Leader who helps facilitate a Visual Communication Design First Year Experience class. She also was a College of Communication and Information Student Ambassador who assists with homecoming, job and career fairs, and more.

When she isn’t busy doing school projects or freelance work, Betsy is on campus, being a part of Kent State’s fashion magazine, A Magazine. Betsy is on the creative team and promotions team for A Magazine’s 8th print edition. She was also a web writer/blogger for Fall 2016 and had a published piece in their 7th print edition. Check out some of Betsy’s blog post for A Magazine. Some of the blogger’s Betsy refers to for fashion/beauty inspiration are Emily Rata, Olivia Jade, and Leah McCarthy. Instagram is her way to gain inspiration on fashion, beauty, and art/design. She has an undeniable love for fashion and hopes that one day she can work without it feeling like a job.

I REALLY WANT TO INTERN SOMEWHERE IN NEW YORK TO SEE WHAT ALL THE HYPE IS ABOUT, BUT AFTER THAT, ONE DAY MOVE OUT WEST AND BE IN THE SUNSHINE.

When Betsy doesn’t have her hands full with design and school activities, she loves playing with her three cats (Molly, Rusty and Simba), drinking her daily ice coffee (at anytime of the year), and spending time out on the lake fishing, riding jet skis, and boating.
